What comes to my mind when I think of Umm Sayhoun and the bedouins who live there? This for me is an easy question, I think of absolute freedom & peace.
For centuries the Al Bdoul tribe, lived within the caves of Petra until 1984 when Petra received the UNESCO designation as a World Heritage Site and the government forced them out of their ancestral land and relocated them to the village of Umm Sayhoun.
To me, Umm Sayhoun feels like home, It is where I feel belong, I can’t explain the feeling exactly but it’s a feeling I’ve never experienced before, I have never truly felt at home anywhere before I stepped foot into their community. There is just something so special that exists there and it has truly captured my soul. Here are some images of my friends, me and the surrounding areas of Um Sayhoun during my times there.
